From London
Driving
From central London, head for the Edgeware Road (A5) and the M1. At Junction 6, take the exit for the M25/St Albans. Follow the signs for St Albans.
In St Albans, turn left into the High Street/George Street. Continue into Romeland Hill and Fishpool Street. Parking is available for customers and residents at the Lower Red Lion (you will see the sign, on your right).
By public transport
Rail: trains run from Kings Cross/St Pancras, to St Albans railway station (see below left.) The service is run by First Capital Connect.
Coach: an express coach service runs daily from Victoria Coach Station via Marble Arch. It is run by Arriva The Shires (Green Line).
Locally
From St Albans Cathedral
Fishpool Street can be seen from the West End of the Cathedral. Just follow the road round till you spot the Lower Red Lion on your right—you will see the sign.
From St Albans railway station (walking)
From St Albans railway station, turn right into Victoria Street. Keep going till you come to a T junction. To the left is Chequer Street. Go down Chequer Street for a short while, then turn right into the High Street. Stay on this road. The High Street becomes George Street, Romeland Hill, and eventually Fishpool Street. The Lower Red Lion is a short way along on your right—you will see the sign.
From St Albans Abbey railway station (walking)
From St Albans Abbey railway station, turn right into the main road, Holywell Hill. Stay on this road, crossing a bridge and passing the cathedral. If you're confident, you can now walk through the Cathedral grounds, and follow the directions above.
Otherwise, keep going till you reach the High Street. Turn left here and stay on this road. The High Street becomes George Street, then Romeland Hill, and eventually Fishpool Street. The Lower Red Lion is a short way along on your right—you will see the sign.
